Frankfurt. Vor zwei Jahren hatte BMW auf der IAA die Konzeptstudie des Hybrid-Sportwagens vorgestellt, jetzt präsentierte Vorstandschef Norbert Reithofer in Frankfurt die Serienversion: den BMW i8. "Auch als Ingenieur erlebe ich so etwas nicht jeden Tag. So ein Fahrzeug hat es bei BMW noch nicht gegeben", sagte der BMW-Chef bei der Präsentation in Frankfurt. "Dies ist ein Sportwagen einer neuen Generation. Er ist genauso emotional, dynamisch und effizient wie wir es versprochen hatten."
Reithofer verspricht die Performance eines Sportwagens und Verbrauchswerte eines Kleinwagens. "Der BMW i8 ist Innovation bis ins letzte Detail. Anfang 2014 kommt er auf den Markt." Der Vorstandschef bekräftigte den eingeschlagenen Entwicklungsweg: "Wir glauben an den Erfolg der Elektromobilität, wir wollen uns signifikante Marktanteile erschließen und damit weiter profitabel wachsen."Das Carbonfahrzeug verfügt über einen batteriebetriebenen Antrieb und einen neu entwickelten 1,5-Liter-Benziner. Der Dreizylinder leistet 231 PS und treibt die Hinterräder an, die 131 PS starke E-Maschine leitet die Kraft an die Vorderachse. Dieses Antriebssystem ermöglicht ein rein elektrisches Fahren mit einer Reichweite von rund 35 Kilometern und eine Geschwindigkeit von bis zu 120 Kilometer pro Stunde.IAA
Der Carbonflitzer von BMW kostet 126.000 Euro
BMW-Chef Norbert Reithofer präsentiert auf der IAA den i8 mit 362 PS starkem Hybridantrieb. Der Sportwagen kommt zum Preis von 126.000 Euro, der Serienstart ist nicht mehr weit.

Der 1,29 Meter flache und 4,69 Meter lange Viersitzer geht trotz des Plug-in-Hybrid-Antriebs mit einem Leergewicht von 1490 Kilogramm an den Start – dank seiner Fahrgastzelle aus Carbon. Der durchschnittliche Kraftstoffverbrauch beträgt laut BMW 2,5 Liter pro 100 Kilometer, der CO2-Ausstoß 59 Gramm pro Kilometer. Mit einer Gesamtleistung von 362 PS beschleunigt der Hybrid-Sportler von Null auf Hundert in 4,4 Sekunden. Die Höchstgeschwindigkeit wird elektronisch auf 250 Kilometer pro Stunde abgeriegelt.
Der i8 wird 126.000 Euro kosten. Das erste Modell der i-Familie, das elektrische Citycar i3, kommt am 16. November dieses Jahres auf den Markt. Der Sportwagen wird in rund 50 Ländern vertrieben. Die USA werden der mit Abstand größte Absatzmarkt für das Hybridfahrzeug sein. In Europa rechnet sich BMW vor allem in Großbritannien, Deutschland und Frankreich gute Absatzchancen aus. Auch in Asien will BMW mit dem i8 Kunden von anderen Premiummarken anlocken - primär von Audi und Porsche. Zielgruppe sind kaufkräftige, technikaffine Menschen ab 35 Jahren, vorwiegend Männer, die nicht nur das Sportwagen-Feeling mögen, sondern auch verantwortungsbewusst fahren möchten.Der i8 wird wie das Citycar im modernsten deutschen BMW-Werk in Leipzig gebaut. Wie beim i3 setzt BMW auch bei dem Sportwagen auf seine neue Leichtbaukonstruktion: Ein Drive-Modul, ein Chassis aus Aluminium, und ein Life-Modul, eine Fahrgastzelle aus Carbon. Verbrennungs- und Elektromotor, Energiespeicher, Leistungselektronik, Fahrwerkskomponenten sowie Struktur- und Crashfunktionen sind im Drive-Modul angesiedelt. Diese neue Struktur ermöglicht einen besonders tiefen Fahrzeugschwerpunkt und eine Achslastverteilung im Verhältnis 50:50 - und das macht sich durch ein sehr agiles Fahrverhalten positiv bemerkbar.
