Goodwood/München. Die BMW-Tochter Rolls-Royce bestätigt nun auch offiziell die Entwicklung eines neuen Modells, das Mitte 2016 auf den Markt kommen soll. Wie Automobilwoche erfuhr, handelt es dabei um eine Cabrio-Version auf Basis des Wraith. Das neue Fahrzeug werde wie die Modelle Phantom, Ghost und Wraith "mit zeitgemäßem und anmutigem Design die Zukunft der Marke entscheidend mitgestalten", schrieb die britische Marke heute in einer Pressemitteilung. "Wir entwickeln eine zeitgemäße Interpretation eines offenen Fahrzeugs, das noch mehr Männer und Frauen für Rolls-Royce begeistern wird", so Rolls-Royce-Chef Torsten Müller-Ötvös.
Peter Schwarzenbauer, der im BMW-Vorstand unter anderem für die Luxusmarke verantwortlich ist, ergänzt: "Wenn es 2016 auf den Markt kommt, wird das elegante Fahrzeug auf dem Erfolg unserer aktuellen Modelle basieren und eine Schlüsselrolle bei der Erfüllung der Verpflichtung von Rolls-Royce Motor Cars spielen, nachhaltig zu wachsen." Das Fahrzeug werde derzeit einem "strengen Entwicklungsprozess mit der Erprobung von Prototypen" unterzogen.
