Berlin. Ola Källenius, Leiter Vertrieb Mercedes-Benz-Cars, kündigt eine erhebliche Erweiterung und Überarbeitung der Produktpalette an. "Mindestens elf weitere Modelle kommen bis 2020 ohne Vorgänger. Es wird zugegebenermaßen ein bisschen enger in der Nischenaufteilung." Für diese Modelle sieht Källenius Chancen in "interessanten Absatzsegmenten". "Wir werden in den nächsten drei Jahren zehn Plug-in-Hybride bringen", so der Vertriebschef. Alle Mercedes-Modelle führten "auf dem CO2-Pfad nach unten, da gibt es keine Diskussion. Wir werden auch die CO2-Ziele erreichen."
Besonders wichtig in der aktuellen Absatzstrategie ist für den Vertriebschef das Flaggschiff S-Klasse. "Die S-Klasse muss stimmen. Es ist das erste Auto, das Plug-in-Hybrid bringt." Es ist zudem das erste Fahrzeug von Mercedes, das voll autonom fahren kann bei begrenzter Geschwindigkeit. Und auch für die Sportwagenschiede AMG sei die S-Klasse von zunehmender Bedeutung, führte Källenius bei seinem Vortrag auf dem Automobilwoche-Kongress in Berlin aus. Insgesamt werde die S-Klasse-Familie auf sechs Modelle ausgebaut. "Für uns ist das extrem wichtig, in diesem Jahr verkaufen wir mehr als 100.000 S-Klasse-Modelle. Das haben wir noch nie geschafft in der Firmengeschichte. Das ist ungefähr so viel oder sogar mehr, als die relevantesten Wettbewerber zusammen haben."
Doch nicht nur die S-Klasse sei von zunehmender Bedeutung. "Was die Marke richtig revolutioniert hat, sind die neuen Kompakten", sagte Källenius. "Das war die Überraschung." Die früheren A- und B-Klasse seien zwar technisch gut gewesen, aber hätten "nicht so viel auf das emotionale Konto eingezahlt". Die beiden Baureihen stießen aus Sicht des Unternehmens vertriebstechnisch an eine Grenze von 200.000 Einheiten. Die neue Linie, die radikale Veränderung des Designs, haben laut Källenius zur sportlichsten Kompaktfamilie im Premiumsegment geführt. "Das Resultat: In diesem Jahr verkaufen wir deutlich mehr als 400.000 Kompakte. Und da geht noch mehr."
Auf dem Wachstumskurs müsse Mercedes nicht nur sein traditionelles Oberklassesegment verteidigen, sondern auch in den unteren Segmenten neue Kunden gewinnen. Der durchschnittliche Autokäufer in Deutschland sei 52 Jahre alt, in China seien die Kunden deutlich jünger. Mercedes habe es geschafft, das Durchschnittsalter der Kompaktwagenkäufer um zehn Jahre zu senken. "Wir glauben, dass die Kompaktfamilie, wenn es um die Marke Mercedes geht, immer wichtiger für unsere Zukunft wird."
