Das Neuwagen-Vergleichsportal Carwow steigt in Deutschland ins Geschäft mit Auto-Ankäufen ein. Gleichzeitig soll das Leasing-Geschäft deutlich ausgebaut werden. Das teilte das Unternehmen am Dienstag mit. Möglich macht den Schritt eine 48 Millionen Euro schwere Finanzierungsrunde mit der US-Investmentgesellschaft Hercules Capital.
Carwow hatte im Juni dieses Jahres die Auto-Ankaufsplattform Wizzle übernommen und deren Technologie in die eigene Ankaufsfunktion "Sell Your Car" integriert. Nach eigenen Angaben hat Carwow in Großbritannien in sechs Monaten ein Umsatzwachstum von 600 Prozent erzielt. Für Oktober meldete die Plattform 22.000 Ankäufe.
Aufgrund dieser Geschäftsentwicklung habe man sich nun zur Expansion auf den deutschen Markt und zum Angriff auf den dortigen Marktführer Wirkaufendeinauto.de entschlossen. Ein großer Teil der 48 Millionen Euro soll dabei in die Einführung der Wizzle-Technologie auf der deutschen Plattform fließen. Bis das abgeschlossen ist, arbeitet Carwow nach Auskunft von Deutschland-Chef Philipp Sayler von Amende mit der Technologie von Carsale24. "Unsere Vision ist, der erste und letzte Kontaktpunkt für Autos zu sein", erklärte Sayler von Amende. Käufer sollten über Carwow einerseits ihr neues Auto finden und zugleich ihr altes loswerden können.
Die aktuelle Situation mit einer weltweiten Lieferkrise bei Neuwagen ist aus Sicht des Carwow-Chefs ideal für die Expansion geeignet: "Gerade jetzt, inmitten einer Lieferkrise bei Mikrochips, brauchen Händler Fahrzeuge, die sie ihren Kunden anbieten können", so Sayler von Amende. Konkrete Ziele zu den angestrebten Stückzahlen nannte er auf Nachfrage aber nicht.
